Renata Abreu

Brazilian

Abreu’s creations are multidisciplinary. She is primary a visual artist, with multimedia works, but her art can unfold in many artistic languages, such as performance, photography, and video. Abreu’s research is based on existential and humanitarian questions, mostly regarding on human dialogue and its reflection into materiality. Her art is a combination between technique, process, and conceptualisation.
As well, Abreu frequently uses her own body as a channel to materialise her concepts. Her work explores imagery of the human body, reflecting on questions about the feminine identity, the ephemerality of existence and her own personal beliefs and devotions. Her works have suggestive visuals and combine great craftsmanship with a conceptualisation of her private and personal imagination.
