Dior was founded in 1946, by Christian Dior in Paris and has since then expanded globally, thanks to its ground-breaking approach towards their enchanting fashion collections. Launching their first spring /summer collection in 1947, Dior proved themselves to be capable of going beyond their time and introducing, what went down in fashion history as “The New Look” – a glamorous and young-looking collection, creating a full skirted silhouette, that would be the inspiration for many fashion designers to come.
In 1947 Dior launched their perfume line along with the well-known “Miss Dior” perfume. By 1953, Dior introduced their first shoe collection and had established itself firmly as a global high-end luxury brand. After the death of Christian Dior in 1957, Yves Saint Laurent was appointed artistic director of the house of Dior. After years of turmoil in the design house of Dior, John Galliano was appointed Creative Director, due to the influence of the well-known Anna Wintour.
